The Spanish Exporters and Investors Club, the Leading Brands of Spain Forum and the Centro Superior de Estudios de la Defensa Nacional (CESEDEN) organized a round table entitled “The defense industry as a factor of economic and technological development” as part of the Advanced Strategic Studies Course for Senior Ibero-American Officers.
The round table was attended by the following experts: Ricardo Sáenz, GMV’s Programs Director; David Ayala, CEO of EINSA; and Sara Cristóbal García, Director of Defense and Security of Grupo Amper. Balbino Prieto, honorary president of the Spanish Exporters and Investors Club (Club de Exportadores e Inversores Españoles), moderated the roundtable held in CESEDEN’s head office.

Rafael Ruiz-Villar (Plataforma de Proyectos Sociales) and Justo García Gil (HOMT) participated in a panel discussion held at the University of Salamanca (USAL), as part of the Master’s Degree in Oriental Studies offered by the university. During the colloquium, which was moderated by David Doncel, director of the graduate program of the USAL, the panelists, representing their respective partner companies of the Club, shared their extensive professional experience in China and Asia, and encouraged students to take the leap to entrepreneurship and to bet on internationalization in East Asia.
This round table is one of the initiatives being promoted by our Training working group, with the aim of bringing the internationalization of Spanish companies closer to future professionals, who will contribute from their internationalized companies to the competitiveness of the Spanish foreign sector.

The University of Salamanca (USAL) hosted the fifth summit of young European and Asian leaders, the “5th ASEF Young Leaders Summit (Asefyls5)”, which was held from September 12 to 16 under the theme ‘Leadership in Society 5.0’. The president of the Spanish Exporters and Investors Club, Antonio Bonet, was one of the experts who participated in the second day of the #ASEFYLS5 summit, which focused on the challenges facing the digital society, and the role of technology and science diplomacy. Specifically, the Club’s president spoke as a panelist in a colloquium that focused on “Citizen 5.0”.
This program of the Asia Europe Foundation (Asef), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Casa Asia and the University of Salamanca, brought together 120 European and Asian participants between 18 and 30 years old.

The Spanish Exporters and Investors Club participated in the official meeting of Mesa Africa held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, with the aim of coordinating the activity of different Spanish institutions in the African continent. The president of the Spanish Exporters and Investors Club, Antonio Bonet, participated in the presentation of the report “Challenges for Spanish companies abroad”, which has been carried out by the MESIAS Observatory for the International Image of Spanish Companies, in collaboration with the Exporters Club and ICEX Alumni.
The report offers a detailed analysis of the challenges faced by Spanish companies in foreign markets. Specifically, it contains relevant information on the challenges faced by Spanish companies in foreign markets; obstacles in entering foreign markets; advantages of companies for being Spanish; challenges faced by Spain in the internationalization of its companies and in relation to its international image; as well as offering a series of recommendations to face the challenges of internationalization, among other aspects.

The president of the Spanish Exporters and Investors Club, Antonio Bonet, participated as a speaker in the presentation of the book “El Covid-19 Económico y Social”, the result of the work of the School of Economic Intelligence of the UAM with the collaboration of the Exporters Club. He is one of the authors featured in the book, which contains writings that go beyond virological aspects, as it delves into the economic, business, anthropological and social factors of the pandemic. This book reflects the history of the academic and business effort.
During the event, also participated as speakers Eva Ballesté Morillas, member of the Reflection Committee on Internationalization and advisor to the Board of Directors of the Exporters Club; and Ángel García Brazales, director of the School of Economic Intelligence and International Relations of the UAM, among others.

The Spanish Exporters and Investors Club has offered, during the month of May, a series of face-to-face seminars aimed at postgraduate students of the Faculty of Commerce of the University of Valladolid, which have been given by professionals from member companies of the Exporters Club with the aim of addressing the legal points that a company faces when accessing international markets.
In total, four conferences were given to bring the internationalization of Spanish companies closer to the students of the University of Valladolid:
– May 4th: lecture by Miguel Gómez Jene, counsel at Cuatrecasas, on international contracting.
– May 10th: lecture by Ramón Gascón, coordinator of the Asia-Pacific working group of the Exporters’ Club, on international sales contracts.
-May 18th: Marcos Macedo, director of the legal and transactional area of Propav Infraestructuras, gave a lecture focused on international bidding and contracting, thanks to which the students had the opportunity to learn about the International Joint Venture contract and the international public bidding for goods, works and services.
– May 19th: lecture by Ramón Gascón in which he provided the students with relevant information on international distribution, international franchise and international insurance contracts.

The president of the Spanish Exporters and Investors Club, Antonio Bonet, participated in the presentation of a new edition of the Extenda Geographic Clubs in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Asia and the United Kingdom, and the Multilateral Club, in a meeting before 40 Andalusian companies that was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat for External Action, European Union and Cooperation of the Junta de Andalucía, in Seville.
The event, organized by Andalucía TRADE, through Extenda, was welcomed by the General Secretary of Foreign Action, European Union and Cooperation of the Andalusian Government, Enrique Milló, and was attended by the CEO of Extenda, Lorena García, as well as the President of the Spanish Exporters and Investors Club, Antonio Bonet.
During the meeting, our president explained in his speech on ‘Structural trends in the foreign sector in the world and the challenges faced by companies’ that “the global economy faces many risks, but there are also opportunities for internationalized companies”.

The coordinator of the Africa working group of the Exporters Club, Jesús Jiménez, participated in the conference organized by FIDE, in collaboration with Mesa Africa and the Ambassador-at-Large for the Africa Plan, with the aim of generating proposals for strengthening Spanish instruments for business promotion in Sub-Saharan Africa; and, from a public-private partnership perspective, to advance the strategic foundations and mechanisms necessary to significantly increase the participation of Spanish companies in the financial and cooperation opportunities of the EU with that region.
During the meeting, our Africa WG coordinator had the opportunity to exchange views and opinions with Fernando Salazar Palma, Executive President of CESCE and with Miguel Tiana Álvarez, General Director of COFIDES.
